If you are searching for a Maryland wedding venue that boasts fairytale charm with waterfront venues, it is easy to see why so many couples fall in love with Bohemia Overlook in Cecil County. Located on the Elk River in North East, Maryland, this venue combines timeless views with a modern atmosphere that feels beautiful in every season.
Bohemia Overlook is popular for weddings because of its versatile backdrops on its property. This venue has three different settings to choose from: the beach, the barn, or the manor house. Some wedding venues have beautiful scenery but limited accommodations. Others impress visually but lack charm. Bohemia Overlook has both, and more, to make your wedding day feel elevated and inviting.
The scenic views, large ceremony spaces, bridal party lodging, and overall wedding experience are great factors to consider when choosing a wedding venue, and this venue hits all the criteria excellently. Located on the Eastern Shore in North East, Maryland, Bohemia Overlook is ideal for destination-style weddings without requiring airfare. The quiet, private atmosphere near the Chesapeake Bay provides a serene, calm setting for your perfect day. With about an hour and 20 minutes from Baltimore and Philadelphia and two hours from DC, this venue makes it easy for couples to gather friends and family from multiple cities in one stunning waterfront location. Just 30 minutes off I-95, this venue has several hotels around that allow you to reserve rooms for discounted rates and can provide room blocking for your wedding weekend.
If you’re looking for a charming waterfront outdoor ceremony, this venue is the one to pick. The sun sets perfectly over the water which provides the perfect picturesque bride and groom portraits at golden hour. The panoramic views are also hard to beat with boats sailing along the water as you share your vows.
Bohemia Overlook includes bridal suites in two of its three venue locations, which shoes they care about their couples. The Manor House and The Beach are both perfect spaces for brunch and mimosas while having hair and make-up done with your bridal party on your wedding day. Having everything in one spot, you can savor your day without running from place to place. The Barracks are available for additional reservation. It is a space dedicated entirely to the groom and his party, which is the perfect place for the men to relax, play a game of cornhole, and get ready for your big day in style.
Bohemia Overlook has three different backgrounds to choose from, which I touched on earlier. The Barn, with an indoor modern rustic flair, holds up to 75 guests comfortably, perfect for smaller, heartfelt gatherings. The Beach offers stunning views of the river and accommodates up to 250 guests in their reception tent. Lastly, The Manor House. This setting screams old money. It is a charmingly appointed 1930’s mansion featuring vintage decor indoors and feels like something straight out of a historic upscale coastal estate, with its grand white columns and polished, old-world charm (definitely something Elizabeth James from The Parent Trap would own). The Manor also accommodates up to 250 guests in its separate reception tent.
Between the waterfront docks, the open fields, and the tree-lined paths, your ideal bride and groom portrait backgrounds are endless. The sunset viewpoints over the water do not disappoint. Any setting you choose at Bohemia Overlook is effortlessly photogenic in any direction. Want to see what wedding photos actually look like at Bohemia Overlook? If you are wanting jaw-dropping waterfront views, timeless charm, and incomparable accommodations that leave your guests remembering your wedding day for years, then Bohemia Overlook is the wedding venue in Maryland that you need to book. This venue delivers an unmatched guest experience. The relaxed, luxury feel of the property and its staff definitely set the bar high. However, if you are a bride who may prefer the traditional ballroom style event space or an urban/city wedding aesthetic, this venue may not be for you (if this sounds like you, I would check out Main Street Ballroom in Ellicott City or the Sagamore Pendry in Baltimore!). If you’re considering planning a wedding at Bohemia Overlook and looking for a photographer who captures candid, natural moments in the best light, reach out to me through my contact page.
Pricing varies by season, guest count, and package. I would encourage you to reach out to them directly.
You can select any vendors to bring your wedding vision to life except for catering, which is chosen from their curated list of approved caterers. Each caterer has been thoroughly vetted to ensure exceptional taste, service, and reliability, so your wedding day is as seamless and delicious as possible. Additionally, a Day-Of Coordinator is required for all events and must be approved by the Bohemia Overlook team. This ensures your celebration runs smoothly and every detail is flawlessly executed.
With my experience photographing at Bohemia Overlook, I think the early fall and late spring are the perfect times of year to exchange your vows there. The cool, not overly hot, air, new flowers, and growing grass around the 80 acres of land is tough to compete with.
Yes! Their reception tents at The Beach and The Manor, and the indoor barn can definitely be accommodated to also serve as ceremony spaces. This is a good plan B if it rains. The tents themselves are white with clear, windowed sides able to be drawn closed in the event of inclement weather.
Book this venue! What are you waiting for? The waterfront scenery, weekend experience, and luxury, yet relaxed atmosphere are everything you need in a wedding venue. Bohemia Overlook has it all and more. After reading about this Maryland wedding venue, if you’re still not convinced, I’d encourage you to reach out and tour it in person!
